A Smart Key by Any Name is Pretty Sweet
A Smart Key is a type of car key that typically uses a proximity signal instead of a standard key to disable your car’s standard security system. Often but not always you can keep your smart key inside your pocket or purse and simply press a button to start your car. Each car manufacturer calls their proximity smart keys something different so here is a list I’ve compiled that names each one and tells what they stand for (as some of them are acronyms).

- Audi – Advanced Key
- BMW – Comfort Access
- Chrysler Group – Keyless Enter-N-Go
- Ford Family – Intelligent Access (IA)
- General Motors – Passive Entry Passive Start (PEPS)
- Infiniti – Infiniti Intelligent Key
- Jaguar – Smart Key System
- Kia – Smart Key System
- Lexus – Smart Access System
- Mazda – Advanced Keyless Entry & Start System
- Mercedes Benz – Keyless Go
- Mini – Comfort Access
- Mitsubishi – Free-Hand Advanced Security Transmitter (FAST)
